Lisbon – Web Summit & Expo 2021
The Web Summit has returned after the event was held online last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The announcement came a few days after Portugal, one of the world’s most vaccinated nations with around 85% of its population fully inoculated, announced it would lift almost all remaining COVID-19 restrictions from Oct 1.
Since 2016, when the first Web Summit was held in Lisbon and thanks to the overwhelming success of the event, and the friendly welcoming participants received, the city was chosen as the venue for 10 years.
The Web Summit is set to be the largest business conference in the world this year. Expecting tens of thousands from around the world to attend and over 1,000 speakers and 1,250 startups taking part.
The return of the event is also excellent news for the tourism sector in Portugal, which before the pandemic contributed around 15% to Portugal’s economy.
The event’s organisers are working with Portuguese authorities to ensure the event follows all health protocols. Attendees must show a vaccination certificate or a negative COVID-19 test.
